Chicken with KumquatsI’m always intrigued by the ways in which entrepreneurial minds figure out how to get local foods to more people. A few years ago, Jennifer Piette started Out of the Box Collective, a Los Angeles-based home-to-kitchen grocery delivery service, that unites busy home cooks with great locally grown and produced seasonal ingredients. Busy is the operative word here; each box comes with a menu and recipes using the foods in the box. Last year Out of the Box asked me to put together a box based on my recipes, and this year they offered the same deal to their subscribers.

Here’s a great opportunity to win a box of locally grown ingredients and artisan-made provisions from Out of the Box Collective that you can use to make my recipes. Although the deadline has passed to order for 2014, they’re giving away one last box. All you have to do to enter is sign up for the company’s newsletter.

Out of the Box CollectiveThe goodies in this box include prunes, kumquats, chicken legs, onions, garlic, olives, chicken stock, ginger, cauliflower, lime, mint, chives, cilantro, clementines, strawberries, feta cheese, pita bread, lamb roast, sirloin steak. That’s enough for two full meals, plus fruit—a $75 value. With all that you can make my recipe for Chicken Legs with Kumquats, Prunes, and Green Olives (shown above) with Rice or Couscous and Green Salad, plus my Indian Style Cauliflower Soup with English Peas.

One winner will be selected at midnight on April 2. The winner must be based in Los Angeles; delivery zones can be found here. Don’t waste any time heading over there and signing up. Good luck to everyone!
